Midway District Will Host Wheat Variety Plot Tour May 24 in Russell

K-State Research and Extension Midway District will host a wheat variety plot tour on Friday, May 24 in Russell starting at 11:30 AM.

A light lunch will be provided.

The plot location is east of the intersection of Lucas Street and South Front Street in Russell.

Topics covered will include wheat varieties selection, 2024 growing conditions and wheat disease updates.

Speakers will include Extension Wheat Plant Pathologist Specialist Kelsey Anderson Onofre, K-State Wheat Breeder Allan Fritz and Midway District Crop Agent Craig Dinkel.

There is no cost to attend, but RSVP is encouraged for an attendance count for refreshments and lunch.

Dinkel gives a little preview.

Unfortunately, according to Dinkel, this year's wheat harvest probably won't be very good overall.
