Natoma Woman Dies in Rollover Crash Tuesday Night in Smith County

A Natoma woman died in a one-vehicle rollover crash Tuesday night in Smith County.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, at 9 PM Tuesday, a 2014 Chevrolet Traverse SUV driven by 62-year-old Daniel Prowse of Natoma was southbound on Kansas Highway 181 at milepost 65 at 220 Road south of Lebanon.

The vehicle left the roadway for an unknown reason and entered the west ditch. The driver overcorrected, crossed the southbound lane and then crossed the center line. The driver then overcorrected again and re-entered the west ditch. The vehicle struck a culvert in the west ditch and traveled south through the ditch before overturning and coming to rest on its passenger side.

Daniel Prowse was injured and transported to Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney, Nebraska with suspected serious injuries.

A passenger, 69-year-old Wanda Prowse of Natoma, died in the crash and was taken to Rentschler Family Mortuary in Smith Center.

Neither were buckled up at the time of the crash.

There was also one juvenile present in the vehicle. Juvenile record protected data.
