Rotary Club Hosts What's Up in Russell Coffee at New Historic Park
The Rotary Club of Russell hosted a Russell Main Street, Inc. What's Up in Russell Coffee at the new Russell Historic Park at 8th and Kansas.
The park, splash pad, playground equipment, benches, picnic tables, visitor center and restrooms were all recently completed as part of a team effort involving many organizations including the Revitalize Russell Committee, the City of Russell, Russell Main Street, the Rotary Club of Russell, Russell PRIDE, the Russell County Historical Society, the Russell County Health Department and Russell County Economic Development and CVB.
Major grant funding was received from the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks, the Dane G. Hansen Foundation and the Russell County Area Community Foundation.
Other community events and projects were also discussed Tuesday morning including the maker space project in downtown Russell, which will soon house a CNC plasma cutter, a kitchen and more for local startup business people to use.
The upcoming Bricks, Broncs and BBQ event in October along with the Flatland Car Show were highlighted as well.
Reasons to join Rotary were also discussed as well as information about what the organization does for the community.
