Russell County Commissioners Receive COVID-19 Update

The Russell County Commissioners met Monday and received an update on the local COVID-19 situation.

Russell County Health Department Administrator Paula Bitter presented up-to-date COVID-19 statistics.

Commissioner Steve Reinhardt said they reviewed the current mask mandate, which follows a previous executive order by Governor Laura Kelly and requires masks to be worn in Russell County when in public.

Also Monday, the Commissioners discussed road and bridge projects, recent closings at the Russell County Landfill due to wind and grant policy.

It was also the first meeting for new Commissioners Duke Strobel and Daron Woelk who were elected in November and sworn in last week. Reinhardt was named Commission Chairman and Woelk was named Vice Chairman.
