The Russell County Health Department released a COVID-19 vaccine update Monday morning.

"As of March 29, 2021, Kansas has moved into Phase 5 of the vaccination plan. What this means is anyone 16 and over are eligible for the vaccine.

At the health department, we have received Moderna and Johnson & Johnson vaccine. We did receive a one-time shipment of Pfizer in which both doses have been administered. Since we are receiving Moderna and J&J, those that can receive the vaccine need to be at least 18 years of age.

We do not know which vaccine and how much we will receive as the state notifies us towards the end of the week for the next week's allocation.

If you would like the vaccine, please call the health department to have your name put on the list. The wait time to receive a vaccine is typically a week or less, depending on the vaccine on hand.

Since the vaccines come in multi-dose vials and there are time limits on how long the vaccine can be out, we must schedule shots in 5 or 10 dose increments. Once you make an appointment, it is extremely important to keep this appointment so we do not have to wait on any vaccine. Thanks!"
