Russell Radio Hosts 17th Annual Fred White Memorial Royals Alumni Youth Baseball Clinic
KRSL/KZRS Russell Radio hosted its 17th Annual Fred White Memorial Royals Alumni Youth Baseball Clinic Wednesday afternoon at the Shaffer Sports Complex in Russell.
The clinic is named in honor of former Kansas City Royals broadcaster and White Communications/Russell Radio owner Fred White who passed away in 2013.
The event was moved this year from Memorial Park in Russell to Shaffer Field due to wet field conditions.
Boys and girls ages seven through 15 learned about baseball from former members of the Kansas City Royals - Brian McRae, Les Norman and Dennis Leonard.
Girls in attendance also learned about softball pitching from local coach Haley Jackson.
Members of the Russell-Victoria softball and baseball teams also helped out.
Russell Radio wants to thank everyone who made this free annual event possible once again, including the Royals Alumni, local coaches and players, Redeem Designs for the shirts, Klema Apple Market for serving lunch, USD 407 and the Russell Recreation Commission for the facilities and equipment, the participants and the many sponsors.
