Western Cooperative Electric Association has reported damage in Ellsworth County to its infrastructure, including power poles cut down with a chainsaw.

Western Cooperative Electric shared on its social media that using a chainsaw to cut down power poles in an attempt to steal copper, even though there was no copper on these poles, is not only wrong but incredibly dangerous.

They said luckily for the would-be thieves, these power lines were not electrified at the time of the vandalism, otherwise, there may have been a loss of life.

Recently, they have seen an uptick in damages in Ellsworth County, but anytime and anywhere you see suspicious activity near power equipment, please report it to the County Sheriff. It's for their own safety.
