Cole Greenwood Named New Head Football Coach at Russell High School

Russell County USD 407 is excited to welcome Cole Greenwood as the new physical education and weights teacher and head football coach at Russell High School.

After his collegiate playing career at Ottawa University, Greenwood spent time as an assistant football coach at Baldwin High School and, most recently, a graduate assistant and junior varsity head coach at Ottawa University.

USD 407 said in a statement released February 29, Coach Greenwood's diverse experience at both the collegiate and high school levels will set the RHS program up for success.

Cole's wife, Kenzie Greenwood, will serve as a first grade teacher at Simpson Elementary School this fall.

Both hires were approved by the USD 407 Board of Education at a special meeting Thursday morning.

"My wife and I are excited for the opportunity to teach, coach, live and invest in the Russell community. I can't wait to contribute to the already high standards of Russell High School Bronco Football," said Cole Greenwood.
