Game 1: Sacred Heart 15, Russell-Victoria 5
Game 2: Sacred Heart 9, Russell-Victoria 4

The Russell-Victoria Softball team hosted Sacred Heart in a doubleheader Monday afternoon at Memorial Park.  Productive first innings proved to be the difference as the Lady Knights prevailed in a sweep by scores of 15-5 and 9-4.

Sacred Heart touched up Game 1 starter and losing pitcher Saige Moos for four runs in the top of the first inning before the Lady Broncos bounced back with two runs of their own on a Sacred Heart fielding error.  The Lady Knights scored 10 runs over the next two innings to swell their advantage to 14-2 before Russell-Victoria plated two more runs in the bottom of the third on a double steal and an error.  After Sacred Heart (5-11) tallied a run in the top of the fifth inning to lead 15-4, Russell-Victoria responded in the bottom of the fifth on a two-out RBI single by Jaelyn Keener. Russell-Victoria's bid to push the opener to a sixth inning ended when Daryss Barrera struck out to conclude the game.

Game 2 saw the same beginning as Gracelynn Dinkel gave up five runs in the opening frame before the Lady Broncos got a run back on yet another Sacred Heart error.  After Sacred Heart added a run in the second inning, the Lady Broncos pulled to within 6-2 in the bottom of the third on a wild pitch.  The score remained 6-2 into the top of the fifth before Sacred Heart's Alyssa Patterson, who pitched two complete game victories launched a home run to left field over Memorial Park's new temporary fence to ignite a three-run rally and make the score 9-2.  Russell-Victoria battled back with single runs in the fifth and sixth innings on more Lady Knight fielding miscues but they could draw no closer.

Russell-Victoria (1-15) will next take the field on Friday, April 26 when they host Rooks County (Plainville-Stockton) at Memorial Park.  The twinbill is a make-up of the snowed out doubleheader originally scheduled for March 26.  First pitch for Game 1 is set for 4 p.m.
