Lady Broncos Swept in Home Opener by Colby

Game 1: Colby 25,  Russell-Victoria 4
Game 2: Colby 24, Russell-Victoria 8

The Russell-Victoria Softball team played its home opener on Friday afternoon and fell twice to Colby by scores of 25-4 and 24-8 in windy conditions at Memorial Park.

In Game 1, a 16-run second inning for Colby proved to be the difference as the Lady Eagles prevailed in the game that ended after three innings.  Russell-Victoria scored all its runs in the bottom of the third inning on RBI singles by Marissa Myers and Sydney Kraus, an error and and RBI groundout.

Colby (3-1) then plated seven runs in the first inning of Game 2 and never looked back. The Lady Broncos while scoring eight runs, including six in the fifth and final frame did not record a hit.

Russell-Victoria (0-6) will return to action at Memorial Park on Tuesday, April 4 when they face Ellsworth.  First pitch for Game 1 is set for 4 p.m.
