Mooney Leads Bronco Golfers at MCL Tournament

Russell High School's Jake Mooney carded a score of 85 to finish in 14th place at the Mid-Continent League Boys Golf Tournament held on Thursday at Smoky Hill Country Club in Hays and hosted by TMP-Marian.

Eli Jones of Norton and Austin Carroll of Ellis finished tied for first with scores of 75.  Hill City edged out Oakley by two strokes to capture the league championship while Russell as a team finished 11th with a score of 409.

Other results for Russell Golfers on Thursday included Slayde Nuss tying for 29th with a score of 95, Jonathan Sandberg tied for 56th with a score of 113, Solomon Moreland finished 59th with a score of 116, James Pummell was 61st after carding a 123 and right behind him in 62nd place was Joey Hurla with a score of 124.  

The RHS Golfers will next be in action at the Class 3A Regional in Norton on Tuesday, May 14 with the opportunity to qualify for the Class 3A State Tournament later this month.
