RHS Begins Season at Hoxie Invitational
The Russell High School boys and girls wrestling teams got their seasons underway on Saturday, Dec. 4 at the Hoxie Invitational.
Mark Baldwin is coaching the Lady Broncos this winter and has four on his roster - one sophomore and three freshmen. All four wrestled on Saturday and all four placed in the top three. Tionna Napue went 3-0 and won the 115-120 pound division. MeDora Cooper placed second with a 2-1 mark at 126-132. Jaden Ney went 4-1 and was second at 138-143. Aurora Kuntzsch went 1-2 and was third at 126-132.
Dan Weigel again leads the RHS boys and has 13 wrestlers out - four seniors, one junior, three sophomores and five freshmen. Six of the 13 competed on Saturday in Hoxie. Tyler Moresco went 2-0 and took first at 195. Jacob Windholz placed third at 145 with a 3-1 record. Teagan Pfeifer went 3-1 and was third at 160. Brayden Suchy had a 3-2 mark at 152 and placed fourth. Kohle Nuss went 1-4 and took fifth at 132. Aidan Morrell went 0-3 at 220.
Next up for the Russell boys is a double dual with TMP and Plainville in Plainville on Friday, Dec. 10 at 5 PM. The Russell girls compete in the Great Bend Invite on Saturday, Dec. 11. Matches begin at 9 AM.
