RHS Golf Places Third at Hoisington
The Russell High School Boys Golf team began the 2024 season on Thursday at the Hoisington Invtiational.
Sophomore Jake Mooney, coming off an appearance at last year's Class 3A State Tournament led the way for the Broncos by placing third with a score of 85. James Pummell placed 10th carding a score of 105.
In the JV division, Joey Hurla scored a 136 good enough for a third place finish.
As a team, the Russell varsity placed third, just seven strokes behind second place Larned. Ellis wound up winning the tournament.
The Russell JV Golf team will host the Russell Invitiational on Monday, April 1 at 1 p.m. at the Russell Municipal Golf Course. The varsity golfers will see their next action on Thursday, April 4 when they travel to WaKeeney for the Trego Invitational. Tee time is set for 1 p.m.
