RHS Track Teams Start Season Strong at Russell Invite

The Russell High School Boys and Girls Track and Field teams began the 2023 season Thursday afternoon by hosting the Russell Invite at a wind-swept Shaffer Field.

Highlighting the day for the Broncos was Jace Peerman who took first place in the Boys High Jump, Long Jump and Triple Jump.  Macy Patterson placed first in the Girls Discus Throw.  Peyton Pfannenstiel took top honors in the Boys 200-meter race. Jacob Ney captured both the Boys 400-meter race and 100-meter dash while Jacob's sister Jaden won the Girls 400-meter event. The Russell Boys also finished first in the 4 x 100 meter relay.  

The Russell Boys finished second as a team with 126 points, just four points behind first place Hoisington which tallied 130 points.  The RHS Girls placed fifth with 33.5 points while TMP-Marian finished first with 172 points.  

The teams will next be in action on Friday, April 7 when they compete at the Lyons Invitational.
