Track and Field: RHS Boys and Girls Place 9th at Hillsboro

At a meet that saw 10 athletes record personal bests, the Russell High School Boys and Girls Track and Field teams each placed ninth at the James Thomas Invitational on Friday in Hillsboro.

Inman won the Girls team title with 98 points over second place Smoky Valley while the Lady Broncos tallied 21 points.  The Boys crown went to Berean Academy with 85 points, edging out second place Hesston by a single point, while the Russell Boys finished the day with 24 points.

Highlights for the Lady Broncos included Aubrey Birney tying for fourth in the High Jump and placing fourth in the Long Jump, Jaden Ney placing third in the Pole Vault, Macy Patterson was fifth in the Discus Throw, Anna Thielen was sixth in the 1,600-meter run, the RHS 4x100-meter Relay Team placed fourth, while the RHS 4x400-meter Relay Team was fifth.

On the Boys side, Brody Pfaennestiel placed third in the Shot Put, Walker Middleton placed sixth in the 100-meter dash and 200-meter dash, and Trey Zorn placed second in the 1,600-meter run and 800-meter run,.

The track teams will take part in their final regular season meet on Thursday, May 2 when they make the short trip to the Victoria Invitational.  Events begin at 1 p.m.
