Track and Field: RHS Girls 3rd, Boys 6th at Phillipsburg

The Russell High School Boys and Girls Track and Field teams took part in their second meet in four days on Friday at the Phillipsburg Invitational.

The Russell Girls placed third as a team with 73 points while the Boys placed sixth with 45.75 points.  Beloit ran away and hid with the Girls team title defeating second place Norton by more than 100 points while Norton and Phillipsburg tied for the Boys crown with 105.75 points apiece.

Highlights for the Lady Broncos included Jaden Ney finishing third in the Pole Vault, Macy Patterson placing fourth in the Shot Put with a personal best throw of 32 feet, four and a quarter inches. Aubrey Birney and Jasmine Jefferson turned in top five finishes in the Triple Jump, Birney finished fifth in the Long Jump and placed fourth in the High Jump.  Jefferson placed fifth in the 100-meter Hurdles, Anna Thielen placed third in the 1,600-meter run, Russell placed third in the 4x100-meter Relay, Kinsey Zorn took first place in the 400-meter dash, Jefferson and Annika Nichols placed third and fourth respectively in the 300-meter Hurdles.  Zorn was second in the 800-meter run, and Russell placed second in the 4x400-meter Relay.

On the Boys side, Brody Pfannenstiel was sixth in the Discus Throw, Thomas Pummell placed fifth in the Triple Jump, Aaron Cole placed fourth in the Long Jump while Pummell placed sixth and tied for fourth in the High Jump.  Walker Middleton placed second in the 100-meter Dash,  Trey Zorn was third in the 1,600-meter run, Russell finished fourth as a team in the 4x100-meter Relay, Sam Whitten was fifth in the 400-meter Dash.  Zorn placed third in the 800-meter run, Middleton was third in the 200-meter Dash, Kaleb Ives-Thull was fourth in the 3,200-meter run and Russell placed second as a team in the 4x100-meter Relay Co-Ed Weight Relay.  

The track teams will next be in action on Friday, April 26 at the Hillsboro Invitational with events beginning at 2:30 p.m.
